The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, has said the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, is the second highest-paid public servant.
He claimed in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, that Dr. Owusu-Amoah receives over 140,000 Ghana cedis.
Describing the GRA boss as a living ghost, the Ningo Prampram lawmaker argued that, since October 2020, the GRA boss has not had any contract with the government after reaching retirement age.
“Dr. Ammishaddai is a ghost on the public payroll because he doesn’t have any contract. Can you believe he is the second highest-paid public servant? He is paid every month without a contract. He is simply a living ghost on the payroll” he said.
At the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) sitting earlier this week, Sam George inquired about the age of the GRA Commissioner-General.
Mr. George accused the GRA Commissioner-General of engaging in ‘dubious and unscrupulous’ contracts, questioning why he has remained in post after reaching retirement age.
